Are the diagnostic providers on DeterDementia vetted?

Yes. Every provider submits proof of accreditation (CLIA, CAP, ISO 15189, or local equivalent) before their listing goes live. Our clinical team also reviews each service description for accuracy and the absence of misleading claims. Listings that fall out of compliance are removed.

Does DeterDementia interpret my results or give medical advice?

No. DeterDementia is a directory, not a clinical service. Results, interpretations, and any medical advice come directly from the provider you choose. Always discuss results with a licensed physician.

How much do tests cost? Do you take a commission?

Prices are set by each provider and listed on their profile when available. Many tests are covered by insurance — look for the "Insurance‑accepted" filter. DeterDementia does not take a commission on referrals or billing — ever.

Can I get a genetic test without a doctor's referral?

It depends on the test and your jurisdiction. Many APOE and pharmacogenomic panels are available direct‑to‑consumer, while CSF or imaging biomarkers typically require a clinician's order. The "Direct‑to‑consumer" tag on each listing tells you which is which.

What's the difference between a screening, a panel, and a diagnostic test?

A screening looks for early indicators in people without symptoms (e.g. annual MoCA). A panel measures a defined group of biomarkers together (e.g. APOE + p‑tau 217). A diagnostic test is used to confirm or rule out a specific condition, usually ordered after symptoms appear. The right choice depends on your goals and family history — your clinician can help decide.

How do I list my lab on DeterDementia?

Create a provider account, choose a subscription package, and submit your accreditation documents. Once verified, you can publish unlimited diagnostic listings, upload research, and receive enquiries through your dashboard. Get started or contact our team.

Is my enquiry private? Who sees the message I send a provider?
